Pennsylvania amends law requiring background checks for employees and volunteers who have direct contact with children, including an exemption for higher education employees
The Pennsylvania legislature has passed—and Gov. Tom Wolf has signed—H.B. 1276 to amend the state’s Child Protective Services Law and Act 153 which was originally signed into law last October.
The amendment clarifies and revises parts of Act 153, including an exemption for most employees of institutions of higher education and a revised periodic recertification requirement of 60 months (rather than every 36 months as previously required).
