New Hires:

• National fingerprint-based background check
• Washington state name and date of birth check

Renewals (required at least every 36 months:

• Washington state name and date of birth check
• If the employee has lived outside Washington during the 36 months, a national fingerprint-based background check is also required

Job Class Changes:

• Background check renewal, including a fingerprint check, regardless of residency status

Employers providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Washington should review these updates to ensure their background check programs remain compliant.
